Work party outfit

Image
So I recently had a work party. And chose neither of the looks I had planned. (lol) But mostly because I did a little black Friday shopping and picked up this beauty of a skirt! I mean how could I wait to wear it!? I legit felt so elegant and flirty. It moves so beautifully and I love the silver sheen 😍  Like I mentioned above it was a black Friday purchase from Old Navy. Everything in store was 50% off. So I had a little too much fun in store! Their prices are normally quite reasonable, so 50% off means a steal of a deal. I paid $13.00 for it!  I featured my bell sleeved top on my last blog, but it's from Express (50% off) the boots are also Express 50% off!  I have gotten so many compliments on this shirt. It's extremely soft, but it's also shorter. So I will probably only wear it tucked into skirts.  (Seriously I couldn't stop twirling lol)  I added this awesome statement necklace from Stella & Dot. Once upon a time I was a stylist, s...

Holiday Outfit Inspo

Image
Tis the season for glam and Christmas parties coming up. So I compiled a few outfit options I am going to wear for the upcoming Holiday season! First one up is girly, yet edgy. I am so in love with this combo. Light pink flare sleeved top, tulle leopard print skirt, and those black booties with the pearls and studs *swoon* I am obsessed. I tied it all together with a pearl necklace with a nod to the boots! But they aren't your nana's pearls. This is a trendy statement piece. Top- Express on sale for $20 Skirt- This one is like 5 years old, but its from Forever 21 Boots- Express on sale for $35 Pearl Necklace- Stella & Dot Here is it on: The second look I threw together is a little bit more casual. I recently got these coated leggings on sale and I love the way I can dress them up or down. You will probably see me wear them a lot! In this case I dressed them up with a chevron blouse and a statement necklace. The blouse has this really fun leather trim on the ...

Christmas time is here! ❄

Image
Christmas is in the air! Well it is in my house anyways. So today I'm giving you a peak into my home decor for the holiday season! First up is my Christmas tree. The last few years Ive been all about the purple accents! I love the look of a colour scheme on a tree. There are sentimental ornaments scattered throughout though. I think you can have a mix of both! ❄I bought the ribbon and most of the ornaments on sale! I think I spent only $10 for most of the balls and all of the ribbon. I find the best time to shop for these items is right after Christmas.  I picked them up at Home Depot for 90% off!  ❄Faux fur lined tree skirt was from Michaels last year.  ❄The flower picks, silver twine balls, and other assorted picks were also from Michaels. (All 50-60% off!) ❄The tree was from Loews. It was an investment, but I love it! (My parents liked it too because they went out and bought it  😉) It has various types of stems and pinecones too! It was also on sale....

A breakfast switch up.

Image
Ok I know my posts lately have been more about food, but Im a foodie so what can I say? Ive been tired of the same old same old breakfast. Toast, cereal, eggo waffles, repeat. Anyone else? But in the mornings I rarely have time to make something over the top. So I've been on the hunt for easy breakfasts that cook while I get ready, and switch up the breakfast routine. Today I'll be featuring 2 different breakfasts, one is an oatmeal dish and the other is a more hearty egg and potato dish. I like both of them equally and although they look complicated I find them quite easy to make! First up is a Baked Blueberry Oatmeal. To be honest it basically tastes like dessert but is actually pretty healthy for you and really filling. My boys also eat this meal up and I know they are getting a great start to their day! I got the recipe from *surprise* Pinterest. -Side note: follow me on Pinterest and you can see my online cookbook!-   "Healthy Blueberry Baked Oatmeal" Au...

Post Partum Depression

Image
Today's blog post is going to be a bit deeper than most. I guess I am reminiscing, as my son turned 2 recently. Thinking back on the last 2 years, I have both good memories, bad memories and some things I don't remember at all. The last 2 years I struggled with Post Partum Depression. Its not something that is commonly talked about, but I thought it was important to address.  At first I thought it was new baby fatigue. I wasn't bonding with my baby the way I had with my first. I felt empty in a weird way. I didn't feel like myself and in fact I didn't know who I was anymore. It was like walking in the fog and everything was muted.  I talked with my husband a little bit about it and how I thought that maybe I was depressed. He was supportive but didn't know how to help. So I sought out a doctor and was prescribed anti depressants. But I chose not to take them because I didn't want to become addicted to them. Looking back now I wish I had. I missed out on so...

Brownie Trifle

Image
We are having company tonight and so I wanted to make a little something special for dessert! Also a great excuse to eat dessert on a Monday night. ;) After some Pinterest browsing I decided to try this Brownie Trifle! I love trifles because 1) They are so easy to make 2) Taste delicious 3) Look really pretty! Also who doesn't like chocolate? So Im betting its a safe bet! Here is a simple step-by-step process of making a non traditional trifle. Often times the only difference is the cake (or in this case brownie) and if you add berries, candy ect. 1) Cake 2) Pudding 3) Cool whip 4) Repeat allll the way to the top of your dish! So I started with a boxed brownie mix because #makeslifeeasier. Then just spooned the mixture along the bottom of my little dessert bowls. You could totally use 2- bite brownies or even pre-made ones! (the dessert bowls were a wedding present but you can find them at Bed Bath and Beyond) Next I made some chocolate pudding and added that on...

5 Freezer meal ideas!

I'm a huge fan of Freezer meals! It can take a few hours of prep, but the outcome is totally worth it. Not only that, but it is really cost effective to buy in bulk and than use up all of the ingredients. I get most of my ideas from Pinterest. Its become my online cookbook and I use it for my dinners, desserts ect. That is where I found all of these meals. Ive pooled some together, each with a different flavour, to save you some time!  There are days where the kids are wild and by the time suppertime comes around, I am exhausted and overwhelmed. Freezer meals are great for taking the guess work out of "whats for supper?" I always double or triple the recipes I choose, so that I can get 2-3 weeks worth of meals.  Here are 5 different freezer meals just in time for winter.  1) Cilantro Lime Chicken You'll need: 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed 1 (10-ounce can) Ro*...

Taking trendy pieces into everyday style

Image
There are tonnes of fashion styles that come and go, so it is not feasible to get trendy pieces every season! So I usually try find pieces that have both a nod to trend and are practical. There are a few pieces Ive picked up lately that were great price points, comfy and are trendy right now! First is this layered bell sleeved top from the Hudson Bay Company. The brand is Lord and Taylor and I got the shirt for $30 on sale. (Last winter) I love the white knit detail over top of the nude coloured silky layer. Its loose fitting and comfy. The details on the sleeves are what makes this shirt amazing. There is a little lace cut-out detail that flares out to the bell sleeve. Its so pretty and fun! You can dress this one up or down!    I love blanket scarves so I added this one and some booties. It's one of my favorite outfit combos!  Second shirt I bought is a baggy tunic. I love the purple colour and its really comfy and cozy! Its also really long so you could ...
