Book Review: The Runaway Bride by Jody Hedlund

Image
First of all, thanks to Jody Hedlund for giving me an advanced read of "The Runaway Bride"! This is my honest review: (Book release date is March 3, 2020) Pete was the perfect "hero" he was selfless to a fault. Im actually wondering, does such a man exist? To quote Jody, "This man was one who accepted and learned from the mistakes of his past but who moved on to live with integrity and honor in the present. A man who opened his home, shared all he had, and did so with no care for the cost to himself."  Talk about swoon! He stood up for the Native Americans, even if it meant he ended up in jail. (Which he did many times throughout the book) He always was helping anywhere and everywhere he could. I think what made him one of my favorite fictional characters though, is that he only wanted the best for Arabella. He wanted to continually push her into the person she was meant to be, not the person she was groomed to act as. Seeing her character deve...

Veiled In Smoke - Book Review

Image
Wow. 😍 Now if you dont want any spoilers...please stop reading now. Know that I give this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and that I reccomend reading it! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I love how Jocelyn was able to add real historical facts into this novel. It's actually something I love in books because I'm able to learn history. Usually I look into the events after I've finished reading a book to learn more!  Anyways...back to the book! This book really struck a chord with me. Megs father struggles with mental illness after suffering through a prison camp during the war. He is diagnosed with what they termed "soilders" heart. Meg and her sister take care of their father as best as they can. Things go sideways when a great fire hits Chicago and Meg loses everything. Including the use of her hands which were seveverly burned. (This problematic as shes an artist.) To top it all off her father is found guilty of murder and thrown into an terminally insane institution. ...

Book Review: Evermore by Jody Hedlund

Image
Hey everyone! I hope your week is going well. I'm excited to talk about a book being released today, "Evermore" by Jody Hedlund! But just a heads up...there is a short story prequel (Always) that I would reccomend reading before this one. Although this story could be read without it, there is a wealth of background knowledge in the prequel that really helps set up the series! (Its also really really good!)  Now on to my review....Evermore is part of a new series that takes us on a journey of the three Lost Princesses. Book One is about Adelaide (Constance) and her discovery about her true identity. Adelaide grew up believing that her "Aunt" took her in after her parents death; but that her life was ordinary otherwise. Things change when, on her dying breath, her "Aunt" tells Adelaide she is actually the true Queen of Mercia. Adelaide is skeptical,  she would much rather Joust and hunt then wear fancy dresses. Adelaide's identity is soon ...

Book Review: Always by Jody Helund

First and foremost let's talk about this stunning cover 🥰 It is beautiful and sets the tone for this amazing book. They say not to judge a book by its cover but this book: amazing cover=amazing book. This is Jody Hedlunds first branch off into YA fiction set in the Medieval time period. "Always" is a prequel to her new series, "The Lost Princesses"which releases today! Happy book birthday Jody! Let me tell you...from the first page I was hooked. I was swept away with the intense beginning that just kept getting better and better. After pledging to both the King and Queen, Lance and Felicia risk their lives for the 3 surviving Princesses. Which leads them on an epic adventure s they encounter rough terrain, wild animals, blood thirsty killers and vicious wolves. Lance and Felicia do whatever is necessary to protect the future of the...

Orlando Eats

Image
Here we go again...this time it's an Orlando eats edition. Yum! I'm a foodie through and through. It doesnt have to be super fancy, I'm in to the good old classic comfort foods. Here are must eat foods in the Orlando area. The first few are ones are found in the Disney World parks. More specifically, Animal Kingdom. This fry concoction was one of them 😍 seasoned fries with tzatziki salad and sriracha mayo. It sounds a little odd but was seriously amazing! (This was in the Asia section at a small kiosk!) Also this 😍 a tasty treat to cool down!  Cookies n' cream ice cream sandwiches. Found throughout the park.  Next up is in Disney Springs. A hip little shopping area with live music entertainment and lots of things Disney!  We found these yummy desserts at a place called Amorettes Patesserie.             (Chocolate chiffon cake with white       chocolate mouse and chocolate pudding) (Mic...

NYC- 9 things to do!

Image
Its overwhelming when you think of all the things you can to do in New York City. So here are my top 9 MUST do when traveling to New York.    But before I start I want to give a few tips. 1) Bring really really good walking shoes. You will be walking an insane amount (we averaged 25,000 steps/day) 2) Study the Metro/ Subway System before you get there. It was really stressful our first day figuring out the subway! Who knew that the Subway could run 3 levels deep, going every which way!?! 3) Don't go out after dark, after 10 pm anyways...it gets...sketchy. If you are out, get an Uber. Even the Subway drivers have a sign saying they only stop if its safe to do so after 10. Nuff said. Now onto the good part! My top recommendations! 1) Broadway Show This was my # 1 must do. At first my husband tagged along for my benefit, but after the show he said he loved it and wanted to do another one. There was so many options but we decided on Aladdi...
